The Mail Merge function is based on generating sms's from a spreadsheet which is uploaded to our server. This function allows you to generate sms's that are personalized to each recipient as information from the spreadsheet can be inserted into each sms using field tags.

An example of a simple spreadsheet is shown below. Note that the first row is the header row and has a column header for each row. One column must contain the recipient cell numbers. This column must be formated as text to prevent the leading zero from being dropped.

Our server supports importing of Microsoft Excel, and Libre Office speadsheets. Supported formats are: .CSV, .XLS, .XLSX, .ODS files.

Once you have imported the file (Step 1), you can start building your sms (Step 2). First specify the column that contains the cell numbers. Then specify the date / time you wish to schedule the batch of sms for.

If required you can filter the spreadsheet to only send to a subset of the recipients contained in the file. Below is a filter example where we only send to recipients whose firstname is not empty.

The last step is to enter the text you wish to send. Note that on the right of the sms text box is a form that allows you to insert any field from the spreadsheet into the text. The example shown will generate sms's with the firstname of the recipient inserted.

Before the sms's are generated, the Mail Merge Review is displayed (Step 3) allowing you to check the sms that will be created. If all looks good, click on the Submit button to generate the sms.

Please note that the Spreadsheet file uploaded is not stored on our server and is automatically deleted once the sms generation is complete.
